Bat Rules by Various Organizations

With the rules for baseball and softball bats changing, and rumors of change always in the air, please read the information contained in these links carefully. If you know of any further developments in bat rule changes, please e-mail us sales@aluminumbats.com and we will update this page.

Please refer to your local officials and rule books. This is by no means a definitive answer to bat rules. Most importantly, please check with your coach, league official, chief umpire and / or recreation department head.
A Note About "Senior League" or "Big Barrel" Bats
Bigger barrel 2 5/8" and 2 3/4" barrel youth bats are called "Senior League" bats. They are designed basically for youths ages 10 thru 15. The word "Senior" does not mean senior citizen, but rather comes from the "Senior Little League", for which the bat size was originally designed.

High School Baseball Bats

As most of you know, NCAA baseball adopted a new rule to limit bat performance. The NFHS, the governing body for most high school athletics for the country, has adopted a similar bat rule that took effect January 1, 2001. This applies to all high school level baseball players throughout the country. The new bat rule applies to both varsity and junior varsity. You can find out more about BESR here

As for youth bats and senior league bats, with so many governing bodies (Little League, Dixie, Pony, AAU, etc.) there are no standardized tests. You must, however, know your particular organization's rules for bats. Before you purchase your bat please make sure you know whether the bat will be legal for you to use. Ask your parents, coaches, umpire or league officials.
