This bat is in the Batter's Box Brown color. The model 73 is one of the hottest new styles. It features a large bell shaped knob which feels comfortable against the bottom hand. The size of the knob takes away some of the weight from the 2 9/16 inch barrel making this an extremely well balance bat. The handle is 15/16 inch.
Every Charleston Bat Company bat starts with the finest wood, hand selected by owner William Keser. The bats are then custom-made-to-order. All of the colors are penetrating dyes. They are light-fast and resist fading. They bring out the beauty of the wood without leaving a muddy complexion. They stain their bats twice resulting in greater color depth and a richer appearance. After the coloring process, they apply three coats of high gloss polyurethane. By design, polyurethane is extremely durable and moisture resistant. The result is a furniture quality finish which is one of the trademarks of the Charleston Bat Company.
Hard Maple (Acer Saccharum) is also known as Sugar Maple or Rock Maple. Black Maple (Acer Nigrum) is also considered a hard maple. Species of the soft maples are not considered for use in baseball bats. Hard Maple is a relatively new choice in baseball bats woods. Some say it is less prone to breakage. The heartwood of maple is a light reddish brown in color, while the sapwood is commonly white.
Hard Maple has similar qualities to Ash in regard to strength, hardness, stiffness, and has a high-resistance to shock. The wood has fine, uniform texture and generally straight-grained. Maple turns well and is suitable for high quality finishes. The logos are stickers, not branded to help prolong the life of the bat.
Charleston Bat Company billets are cut from the heartwood and kiln-dried to 6%-8% moisture content. Hard Maple gives players another choice in performance bats. |
